Stingray™ Flat Box

The Stingray™ Flat Box was originally designed by STEP 22® to solve the problem of bulky, awkward storage bins by creating a premium collapsible storage system built specifically for organized overland and adventure travel setups. Built with high-end materials and real-world functionality in mind, the Stingray has become a go-to solution for storing clothes, camera gear, food, tools, recovery gear, camp kitchen supplies, and more.

Unfortunately, one company liked our design so much they literally ordered a Stingray directly from us, shipped it to China, and created an exact replica—down to matching stitch patterns. On a screen, it may look similar. In person, it’s a completely different story. Cheap materials, lower-grade construction, and corner-cutting manufacturing simply do not compare to the original. Slick marketing may try to convince buyers they’re supporting a grassroots family business, but unlike STEP 22®, that company is partially owned by massive investment firms including BlackRock. STEP 22® remains a real family-owned company with zero outside investors and zero corporate ownership involved in what we do.

Our innovative collapsible design allows the Stingray to fold down to one-quarter of its full size, all within its own footprint, helping save valuable space while making storage easy when not in use. Because at the end of the day, copying the appearance of a product is easy. Replicating the materials, craftsmanship, durability, and thoughtful design behind the original is not.
